Santorini-inspired attraction in Cameron Highlands demolished for not getting authority approval

The Cameron Highlands district council (MDCH) demolished the Cameron Santorini tourist attraction due to lack of approval from authorities.

The demolition took place from 9 am to 11:30 am on Monday, August 5.

The operation was led by MDCH president Azmil Hadid Maznan and involved multiple agencies:

Cameron Highlands district and land office (PDTCH)
Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM)
Pahang state enforcement Unit (UPNP)
Cameron Highlands district Public Works Department (PWD)
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)

The council emphasized that this action serves as a lesson and reminder for compliance with current procedures and regulations for development projects.

The demolition was conducted under Section 70 (1) of the Construction Without Approval provision of Act 133 of the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974.

The area is quite sloped, so if a person in a wheelchair needs to access it, caution is required.

Any transport provided?

Currently visitor need to drive themselves and park at Santorini Car Park(free limited parking space). Only Bus or lorry is not allowed to enter to the area.
